Tonight is the start of Parent Teacher Conferences! We look forward to seeing all of you tonight and Thursday. Teachers have been working on having the students ready to present at their conferences. While student attendance is not mandatory, it is suggested so that they have the opportunity to share all of the great things they are doing in class. Conference times were sent home in backpacks, so be sure to check for your assigned date and time.

November 8th there will be a FREE dyslexia simulation coming to Garden City. Parents and educators are welcome to attend to gain a better understanding of dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia, and other neurodiversity. Please see the attached document for details.

Hi Students and Parents,
You should have received a permission slip for our World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser. Please sign and return the form with $60 per box as soon as you can so you can start selling on Wednesday.

All money raised helps our school pay for fun events and classroom supplies.

Is your student missing something? Our lost and found is starting to build up, if you notice something missing stop by to pick it up. Anything remaining at the end of the semester will be donated to Goodwill.

Today Jennie Barker students were joined by members of the GCHS Volleyball team and GCHS Wrestling team as they participated in "Walk to School Day". Special thanks to our friends at GCHS for the exciting start to our day!

Good afternoon,

Today, Jennie Barker Elementary staff and students participated in our first Crisis Drill of the year. This drill was a LOCKOUT scenario.

A lockout is used when there is a potentially dangerous situation near the school or approaching the building. During a lockout, all students are brought inside, exterior doors are locked, and everyone in the building is accounted for. Classes and activities inside continue as normal, but travel to and from exterior buildings is restricted until the lockout is lifted.

Our staff and students did an excellent job during today’s drill. Please take a moment to talk with your student about the importance of these drills and the need to follow directions carefully during any emergency situation.

Jennie Barker will do an indoor dismissal today. Students that do not ride the bus will be in the gymnasium. Parents will enter through the main doors and pick their students up in the gym, and exit out of the north doors of the building. All students will come to the cafeteria at 3:45pm and be available for pickup.

Tomorrow we will dismiss at 11:50am, and Thursday we will begin our normal schedule.

Another successful day for our robotics program. Team 5585D brought home three more trophies: Teamwork Champions, 2nd Place Skills and the Create Award.
